the story behind my animation

The story behind my animation:
Penny is angry with her family. Shes fed up with her father cheating on her mother and wants everything back to normal. Penny goes to Nicks house and takes her anger out on him. Nicks pretty confused about the whole situation but takes her anger calmly and rationally. Penny then morphs into a man-eating monster as a metaphor for her anger and in the climax bites her boyfriends head off.
Lots of people get different ideas about what i was trying to convey in my animation which is good because its open to different opionions.

my animation

today i finsihed filming my animation. it took me around 4 hours and i had a few problems with the new models i made.. for example... pennys and nicks arms both were coming off when i moved them too much or the wire would stick out of places they werent supposed to stick out of and i had trouble with the morphing as it all kept falling apart.
i re-designed my set and i thought it looked really good. i made a window and stuck posters of slipknot and other gothik pictures in the background so the audience could tell it was in nicks room. over all i think it will turn out okay.
last week channel 10 came in to film us it was really fun. we got interviewed and they filmed us creating and playing with our models. im looking forward to seeing the end result b ecause they were there for ages filming us.
Danielle and i were also in the monney valley leader newspaper with an article about pop fiction it was very interesting and a very good experience.
tomorow i have to dub the music i want to use on to my animation and start working on the editing. its going to take a fair bit of time and has to be due in by friday but im really excited to see how it turned out.

My new idea

Hiiiiiiiii
i have changed my idea (not that i had an exact one to begin with). After meeting with al and viewing his animations he gave me the idea of morphing. so i decided that i am still going to set it in nicks room but i want penny to be fighting with nick and then all of a sudden she turns into a spider and legs start coming out of her dress and she bites nicks head off and he is bleeding and then she runs off. i have re-done my models as two of them were destroyed : (
i found it really difficult to make the models as they kept breaking and i was getting really inpatiatient with the whole process then Danielle told me about some nice soft clay so i went and brought it. (its really expensive for what it is tho but hey it was worth it) So i re did the model of penny so it will be easier to move her and i put wire throughout her body.
i also finished the set. its pretty simple but i think it looks good. one wall is covered in black and white checkered paper and the other in a dark purple (because i couldnt find another sheet of black and white) and there is a couch in the setting (thank you to my sister for letting me use her barbie toys). im going to make posters of bands in the background so it looks a bit more like nicks room. so far thats all ive done. i plan to start animating on friday hopefully.

MY IDEA

I drew up sketches of what i want the characters in my animation to look like today and coloured them in. I drew pictures of Penny, Nick, and two of their friends. During the designing process I tried to keep in mind difficulties I might have with my characters movements. To avoid these problems I created all of the characters with large round heads and big eyes. Penny and her friends dress are going to be 'cone' shaped so that you cant see their feet and it will be easier for them to stand up alone without having to lean on anything. Nicks pants are long and baggy and are thick so that he can stand up properly. The other character i designed will be sitting on the bed but still shares the same characteristics of the others such as the gothic clothes and bright coloured hair.
My animation is going to be set at Nicks house because i found that there was a lot of talk about what goes on inside his house because he lives without his parents. inside i am going to have nicks friends sitting on the bed listening to music and Penny and Nick to be the main characters fighting. The ending of the story is still yet to be decided on yet.
Next week Al is coming to our school to help us out and listen to our ideas. He will be showing us ways to make our animations easier and show us any shortcuts we may be able to use. by next week i plan to have all of my clay models finished and i want to start working on the set.
I plan to make the music for my animation instead of seeking permission from bands to use their music i thought that i could use myown. it would be good way to have people listen to my own songs that ive written.

Pop Fiction at Essendon Keilor College

At the launch of the book, 'To love Veronica Bee' I witnessed a documentry which helped me get a better insight of what Pop fiction was all about. Pop fiction is about taking ideas from a book and turning them into creative ideas such as animations, films, artwork and music. I thought that it looked very interesting and i liked watching the other examples that we were shown. I think that it is a good idea and helps you interact more with the book and get a better insight.
Today Sarah (author of the book 'To Love Veronica Bee'), came to our school and we discussed ideas that we have about what we would like to do to contribute. I decided that i like the idea of animation and would like to base my film on the characters of Penny or Cas. I really liked the character of Penny and how she was different to the others, and her age also appealed to me. I liked how Cas played guitar and was a very friendly character. I am looking forward to getting started on my animation and seeing the end result.
Sarah told us about the other schools that are involved and the artwork that they were contributing. I think that its a good idea how the artwork will be on the website www.bumble.com.au because it is helpful interaction for those who enjoy the book and it also helps you to appreciate the book on a different level.
